Why this box

Designed as one piece

The figure, the twelve colours and the guide were made together. Every mix in the book uses only the paints in the box: no hunting for a shade, no extra bottle to buy.

Ten steps, no guessing

Pressures, mix ratios, drying times and a picture for every step. Red outlines show what you paint, red arrows show where you spray from.

Made when you order

No warehouse. Your figure is printed after your order, cleaned by hand and packed with its hand-bound guide. You see every step: print started, print finished, shipped.

Your twelve colours

Every colour in the guide comes from the twelve Jacquard Airbrush Colors in the box: water-based, ready to spray straight from the bottle, thinned with water for washes and glazes. Numbers as printed on the bottle.

Look closer

Braided beard, riveted scale, a shield of split planks and a base of broken rock and crystal: the detail the ten steps bring out.

The finished figure

Four views of Darvin painted exactly as the guide describes, from the first black coat to the last gloss on the eyes.

Painting guide

Ten steps from a black primed print to a finished throne guard, printed as an A5 booklet and bound by hand. Step through all ten here, exactly as they appear in the book.

Step

Step 1 / 10

Prime black

After the primer has dried, spray 206 Opaque Black over the whole miniature in thin passes. Turn the figure so you reach under the arms, beard and shield. Everything must be evenly black.

206 Opaque Black
Tip

Let it dry for 15–20 minutes before the next step.

3

Step 2 / 10

Zenithal light

Spray 207 Opaque White from above, at about 45°, like sunlight. Short bursts at low pressure. Upper surfaces turn white, recesses and undersides stay black. This light map shows through every thin colour coat that follows.

207 Opaque White
Tip

Do not spray from below – the shadows are what makes it work.

5

Step 3 / 10

Metal

305 Metallic Silver on all armour plates, the chain mail, the axe head, the headband, the braid rings and the rim, boss and spokes of the shield. Two thin coats by airbrush or brush.

305 Metallic Silver
Tip

Small parts like rivets and rings are quicker with a brush.

6
The figure with belt, boots, axe grip and wooden shield planks outlined in red for leather and wood
7

Step 4 / 10

Leather & wood

456 Tanned Leather on the belt, boots and axe grip. For the wooden shield planks and the axe haft mix 205 + 456 at 1:1. Use a brush and stay inside the lines; small slips will vanish under the wash.

9

Step 5 / 10

Hair & beard

Copper brown: 456 : 201 : 205 at 3 : 1 : 2. Paint hair, beard and braids, leave the silver rings free. With the airbrush use low pressure from the front and cover the armour with a piece of card.

Step 6 / 10

Skin

Face and hands: 207 : 201 : 200 : 205 at 5 : 1 : 1 : 2. Two thin layers with a brush, each allowed to dry.

Thin with a drop of water so the layers stay smooth.

Step 7 / 10

Trousers, rock & crystals

453 Military Green on the trousers. 457 Concrete Grey on the whole rock base. Crystals: 207 + 102 at 2 : 1.

Step 8 / 10

Washes

Metal and rock: 106 + 105 at 2 : 1, thinned 1 : 3 with water. Hair, skin, leather and wood: 105, thinned 1 : 3. Brush the wash into recesses, not over large flat areas. Crystals: pure 102 into the bases.

Tip

Let washes dry completely (about 30 minutes) before highlighting.

Step 9 / 10

Highlights & details

Edges of the armour: 305 + 207 at 3 : 1. Hair strands: 456 : 200 : 207 at 3 : 1 : 1. Nose, cheekbones and knuckles: 207 : 201 : 200 at 3 : 1 : 1. Drybrush the rock with 457 + 207 at 1 : 1, crystal tips with pure 207. Eyes: a dot of 207, then a tiny dot of 206.

18
The finished figure sealed with matte varnish, wooden shield and silver axe, gloss on the eyes
19

Step 10 / 10

Seal

When everything is fully dry (at least 24 hours), protect the miniature with a matte acrylic varnish. Then add the gloss back only where you want shine – for example a drop of gloss varnish on the eyes.

20
The figure sprayed evenly black, outlined in red 1

Airbrush guide values

0.35 mm nozzle: 1.5–2 bar (20–30 psi) for base coats, 1–1.2 bar (15–18 psi) for zenithal light and details. Shake the bottle well; stir metallics.

Not in the box

Primer, airbrush cleaner, water, a mixing palette, fine brushes (Kolinsky sable in sizes 0 and 1), an old brush for drybrushing, matte varnish.

The Story

Darvin was seventeen when the water came. A junior miner in Kelda’s crew, Shaft 9-East, six hundred meters below the Ironhold. He remembers the silence first — the way the mountain stopped breathing. Then the foreman’s voice, calm as bedrock: Get to Junction 7. Now.

Three hours later, Thordak Ironvein emerged from Shaft 11 carrying two survivors and the names of the dead. Darvin watched him walk out — dust-covered, silent, broken in places no healer could reach — and understood: some debts cannot be repaid, only honored.

When the foreman became king, Darvin left the mines. He trained with blade and shield until his hands forgot the weight of a pickaxe. He took his place beside the Scale-Throne and spoke a single oath: The mountain will not take you. Not while I stand.

He has stood ever since.
